We are supporting 5 VFDs around the lake this year with the money that is raised and doanted each year through the Fuel the Firefighters Fundraiser. Here is a list of the VFDs and some key stats:

We asked the Volunteer Fire Departments what were their needs for 2023-24, here are just a few:
287 R/C VFD – Watch Assistant Fire Chief Dwight Larson interviewed
- Bring Water Supply to the Fire Station
- Additional SCBA Tanks
- Replace end-of-life Fire Hose
- 2 Additional AEDs
Eureka VFD – Watch Volunteer Stuart Springer interviewed
- Replace 1986 Engine. New Tender is estimated at $250k-$300k. Direct cost to Eureka is $25k-$30k
- Battery Powered Rescue Tools
- Bunker Gear for Firefighters – 5 sets
Kerens VFD
- AED’s
- Smoke & Carbon Detectors
- CO2 for Extinguishers
Mildred VFD – Watch Fire Chief Brandon Sellers interviewed
- Assistance with Small & Large Grass Trucks
- All SCBA Tanks are outdated and cannot use, need 12 new bottles
- Assistance with New Tender
Southern Oaks VFD – Watch Fire Chief Van Wagnon interviewed
- Body Repairs for Grass Truck which was damaged during a fire call
- Poly water tank for Tanker Truck
